Online Integer Number Tutors

Online Integer Number Tutors It is the system of numbers; containing negative of natural numbers. The collection of integers is denoted by Z or I. Thus, Z = {, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, } Zero is neither a negative nor a positive number. It is a neutral number. This system also has infinite numbers towards negative as well as positive sides. Therefore the smallest and the largest integers cannot be obtained. In this system, any number can be obtained by adding 1 to its previous number. Note: - The difference between two consecutive integers is always 1 (one). Example 1: - A man moves 20 m due east and then 16 m due west. Find his position with respect to his starting point. Solution: - If 20 m due east is represented by +20, then -16 represents 16 m due west. On adding + 20 and 16, we get: (+ 20) + (- 16) = + 20 16 = + 4; which is positive Therefore the position of the man with respect to his starting point is 4 m due east. Example 2: - The temperature of a body first rises by 25 degree C and then falls by 32 degree C. Find the final temperature of the body, if its initial temperature is 0 degree C. Solution: - If the rise in temperature is denoted by positive sign, then the fall in temperature will be denoted by a negative sign. Final temperature = Initial temperature + rise in temperature + fall in temperature. = 0 + (+ 25) + (- 32) =-7 degree C.
